Welcome!
This is my first foray into blogging, so please be patient with me as I stumble down this twisted path. A big reason for these baby steps toward upping my social media game is an attempt to promote my self-published novels, Hard Bark, Better Left Alone, and Buried Schemes. If a book is published, and nobody reads it, was it ever written? Such an eccentric question, but all kidding aside, it's close to how I feel sometimes.
For introduction purposes, my name is David C Horne, and I live with my loving wife and loyal dog, Max, in a small cabin on a beautiful piece of property near the foothills of Northwest Washington's Olympic National Park.
I've worn many hats throughout my life, working in a number of eclectic careers fields such as Estate Caretaker, Meat and Seafood Manager, and Marketing Coordinator, just to name a few. I love to travel, and my wife and I have had the opportunity to spend some quality time in Europe and the United Kingdom. Some of my passions are writing, reading, cooking, fishing, hiking, gardening, vintage bicycles, photography, and animals.
Although I have always enjoyed writing, beginning at an early age with my first real story, 'Assault on a Slug' (Get it? A SALT on a Slug?), I hadn't published anything until my first novel, Buried Schemes, which was released in 2018. Since that time, I've been spending a lot more time working hard to improve my craft. It's a sometimes humbling journey, but more times than not, my harshest critic is myself.
So this is my first official blog post, another small step along my path to—what? I'm not sure.
